9: Rox Villa
Our
beloved sound engineer as well as "phonic" skills that distinguish
him is also an excellent trombonist. The trombone is a tool that not always is
combined well with rock but for some "jazzy-flavour" pieces was
perfect. Not only that, in a very symphonic moment on "L'interno di un volto" he made a
fantastic part with three trombones overdubbed to create an otherworldly
atmosphere very "Dead Can Dance Meet King Crimson".
But
Rox
was not only this.
Rox
was the most important person for the success of this album. Infact he helped
me since the very early days to produce, organize and choose the right
musicians. He gave me a big hand for the arrangements, for the sounds choises
and for the management of the whole project.
He
also played (the aforementioned trombone but also some keyboards such as
mellotron and various synthesizers) and, most of all, he put his whole soul to
record the album in his Hilary Studios.
Sometimes not sleeping at night until he found the right sound.
This
record would not have been the same without Rox's great talent and - without
taking anything away from all those who are committed to make this dream come
true - it is to him in the first place that I extend my warmest thanks.
